Description	:	From the Clinton Herald newspaper dated Wednesday 9 Feb. 1944. Mrs. H. C. Evans, 79, of Oakhurst died at 4:154 this morning at Jane Lamb hospital after an illness of several weeks. The body was taken to the Snell funeral home where it will repose beginning tomorrow afternoon until the time of the funeral. Tentative plans have been made for final rites on Friday. Mrs. H. C. Evans was born march 23, 1865 in the old town of Lyons, the daughter of Luther and Mary Stumbaugh. She was married April 24, 1884, to Harry C. Evans and they ahve lived in Clinton all their lives. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, a deaconess within the church and a charter member of the Century club. She is survived by her husband; a son, Harold S. Evans of Cincinnati, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. John Beall of Elgin, Il; Mrs. Melvin Locke of Pekin, Ill., and Mrs. Grace Evans Weih of Clinton; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Charles Sawyer of Ellendale, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and six sisters.
