Description	:	Florence Leona Saak Petermeier was born Jan. 21, 1907, north of Baxter, the daughter of Herman B. Jr. and Sophia Kanne Saak. She graduated from Baxter Community High School in 1924 and attended business college in Des Moines. She wed Clarence F. Petermeier on Feb. 20, 1929, in Newton. The couple farmed east of Baxter until Clarence's death in 1962. They had one daughter, Carol Jean. Florence was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, Friendly Neighbor Club, and the Senior Citizens. She was a cook at Colonial Manor for a number of years. She graduated from Baxter Community High School in 1924 and attended business college in Des Moines. She wed Clarence F. Petermeier on Feb. 20, 1929, in Newton. The couple farmed east of Baxter until Clarence's death in 1962. They had one daughter, Carol Jean. Florence was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, Friendly Neighbor Club, and the Senior Citizens. She was a cook at Colonial Manor for a number of years. A resident of Baxter since 1967 and lifelong Baxter area resident, Florence was 70 years old when she died Sunday, April 3, 1977, at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. Survivors were her daughter, Carol Jean (Mrs. Gary) Pyle of Baxter, four grandchildren; and one great–grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Funeral services were held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, April 5, 1977, at the Congregational United Church of Christ at Baxter with the Rev. Gary Hubley, pastor of the church, officiating. She was buried beside her husband Clarence in the Restland Cemetery at Baxter. Boyd–Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter handled the arrangements.
