Guggenmos September 5, 1929 - December 21, 2016 SIOUX CITY \| Florence "Floss" Guggenmos, 87, of Sioux City, entered into glory Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Whispering Creek Retirement Community. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Floss was born on Sept. 5, 1929, in Arcadia, Neb., to Zera and Mary (Papiernick) Sell. She graduated from high school in Arcadia. She was united in marriage to Bernard E. Guggenmos on Sept. 8, 1950 in Arcadia. They lived in Ord, Neb. until 1959, when they moved to Sioux City to operate and eventually own Sioux Specialty Beauty Supply. They later opened another business, Fashions Plus, in Morningside in May 1980. Floss was active with the Morningside Commercial Club in Peter's Park. They retired in 1993. Floss was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for nearly 60 years, where she served as a treasurer and circle member. She was passionate about children and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, and her family enjoyed receiving her baked goods even more. She was an avid fan at her grandkids sporting events. Those left to honor her memory include her children, David (Linda) Guggenmos of Sioux City, and Greg (Kathie) Guggenmos of Sioux City; son-in-law, Michael Ellwanger of Sioux City; grandchildren, Neil (Kara) Guggenmos of Alaska, Jeff Guggenmos of Colorado, David (Lyndsey) Guggenmos of Kansas City, Kan., Emily (Lou) Raguse of Minneapolis, Alex (Rachel) Guggenmos of Sioux City, Missy (Jason) Gomez of Sioux City, Josh (Anne) Ellwanger of Kansas City, Kan., and Nick (Erika) Ellwanger of Kansas City, Kan.; 19 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Norm (Joyce) Sell of Lincoln, Neb., and Marlin (Marjo) Sell of Arcadia. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; daughter, Nan Ellwanger; sister, Doris Pester; and brothers, Allen and Buzz Sell. Memorials may be made to the Nan Ellwanger Memorial Fund, which was established to help the needs of Sioux City school children.
