Read More	OBITUARY Florence Marie Eisner FORT BENTON -- Florence Marie Eisner, 92, a former cook, died of complications from diabetes Wednesday in the Hospice Room of the Missouri River Medical Center in Fort Benton where she resided for the past year. A memorial service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Fort Benton. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be taken back home to Grand Forks, N.D., for burial. Arrangements are being handled by the Benton Funeral Home. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Konen of Fort Benton; sisters Ellen Haugen of Stephen, Minn., and Joyce Hunstad of New Brighten, Minn. Additional survivors include her two grandchildren, Jon Konen of Kalispell and Jeri McKay of Great Falls, great- granddaughter Lainie McKay of Great Falls; son-in-law Ivan Konen of Fort Benton; brother-in-law Earl Hunstad of New Brighten, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Florence Marie Eisner was born June 4 , 1911, to William and Augusta Dufke, at Forsyth, Mont., where she lived until 6 months old. She then moved to Argyle, Minn., where she attended school. She completed grades six, seven and eight in two years. She graduated as valedictorian from Argyle High School in 1930. Upon graduation she attended business college in Grand Forks, N.D., but because of the Great Depression she had to find work. She worked as a cook in and around the Grand Forks area, cooking at the YMCA, Dacotah Hotel, Darcy's Cafe, Annex Cafe, and Coffee Cup Cafe. She also cooked at the Lutheran Student Center, Sigma Nu Fraternity and Pi Bata Phi Sorority on the UND campus and the State School for the Blind. She later moved to Leeds, N.D., where she cooked on the Arne Nestegard farm. She retired in June of 1975. She was a hard worker, an independent spirit and was very proud of her Scandinavian heritage. She worked to put her daughter through college at Minot State. She loved to cook and share her preparations. She loved to donate cookies for bake sales especially the Humane Society. She always considered herself a North Dakota girl and as she put it, "one tough Swede," and showed her hospitality with the smorgasbord approach. She married Samuel Eisner and later they divorced. They had one daughter, Patricia Konen, of Fort Benton. She was a lifetime member of the Sons of Norway Lodge and the Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, N.D. Her biggest joy was traveling by Amtrak to visit her daughter and family. She had many great adventures during her 92 years of life. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Shantzen and Emily Lunde. The Konen family requests memorials be sent to Missouri River Medical Center Hospice Program, P.O.
