Description	:	Florence Marie is the daughter of Jacob Edward Wenger and his wife Rhoda Relda Reynolds, of New Carlisle, IN., and then in 1905, they moved back to Hamilton, in St. Joseph Co. Indiana, to the farm where Rhoda grew up. ------------------------------ She went by her middle name of "Marie". ----------------------------- Her parents and two sisters, Elizabeth and Dorothy are buried in the Hamilton Church Cemetery, in Hamilton, St. Joseph Co. Bertrand Road, South of Buchanan, Berrien Co. MI., (where her husband Clifford died). ------------------------------ They had seven children: ---------------- 1. Florence Janette Upham. m. Clifford Weber Scameheorn, on Aug. 9, 1931, in St. Joseph County Indiana. They lived in Buchanan, MI. -------------------------------- 2. James Clifford Upham. m. Evelyn Gertrude Villwock, (lived in Dayton, Ohio, and died in Sarasota, Fla. ------------------------------ 3. Robert Warren Upham. m. Helen Claudine Villwock, and lived in Jackson, MI. He died Sept. 1977 in Jackson, MI. Note: Helen's sister Evelyn Gertrude Villwock was married to Robert's brother, James Clifford Upham. ------------------------------ 4. Elaine Marie Upham. b. Oct. 10, 1919, in Buchanan, MI. d. Feb. 7, 1923, in Buchanan, MI. (died at 3 years and 4 months). ------------------------------- 5. Theodore E. Upham. Theodore E. served in WWII. m. Marguerite Louise Queyrant, and they lived in Jackson, MI. ------------------------------ 6. Richard Allen Upham. Richard served in WWII and in the Korean War. m. Betty Lou Cecrle, and lived in South Bend, IN. ----------------------------- 7. Donald Lee Upham. m. Joan Elizabeth Lovell, and lived in Los Alamos, N. M. ________________________________ Florence Marie has compiled the genealogy on the Wenger family tree, where she lists herself as "Florence Marie" (Wenger) Upham. ------------------------------- (Florence Marie"s sister named Dorris Eleanor (Wenger) Lange of Three Oaks, Michigan, survived her). -------------------------------- Florence was a member of the Home Economics Club in Portage Prairie, South of Buchanan, MI. -------------------------------- Before she died, Marie had been living at the Wilds' Home for the Aged and Handicapped, (also known as "Wilds River Rest"), on Red Bud Trail, N.-W. of Buchanan, MI. ------------------------------ Florence died in the Pawating Hospital in Niles, Michigan, at the age of 96, following an extended illness. ------------------------------- One obituary was published in the "Harold-Palladium" newspaper in Benton Harbor, MI on Oct. 28, 1991. ------------------------------ The following obituary was published in "The Niles Daily Star" newspaper, in Niles, MI on Mon. Oct. 28, 1991, page 2: --- FLORENCE MARIE UPHAM. Services are pending for Florence Marie Upham, 96, of Wilds River Rest, formerly of Metea Court, Buchanan, at Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Mrs. Upham died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday at Pawating Hospital, following an extended illiness. She was born April 8, 1895, in New Carlisle, Ind., and lived in this area all her life. Mrs. Upham was a homemaker. She was a member of the Home Economics Club, Portage Prairie. On Aug. 10, 1912, in Mishawaka, Ind., she married Clifford H. Upham, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Janette Scameheorn of Buchanan; two sons, Theadore Upham of Jackson, and Donald Upham of Los Alamos, N. M.; a sister, Dorris Lange of Three Oaks; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter and three sons. Visitation is pending at Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan. --------------------------------
