Description	:	Flowers “Dale” Phillips, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, (formerly of Oxford), passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Dale was born December 5, 1924, at Lexington, Nebraska, the fourth of twelve children born to Anthony and Fannie (Scott) Phillips. He received his education through the 8th grade at District #37 rural school at Darr, Nebraska. At the end of World War II, Dale was inducted into the United Stated Army, where he served his country as a Military Policeman in Japan for a year. He was honorably discharged on May 7, 1947. Dale was born December 5, 1924, at Lexington, Nebraska, the fourth of twelve children born to Anthony and Fannie (Scott) Phillips. Following his discharge, Dale moved to California, where he worked at the Ford Plant. He then returned to the Lexington area, where he worked as a hired man for numerous farms. On December 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Maxine (Batt) Dietz at the Christian Church in Elwood, Nebraska, and Dale lovingly accepted her children as his own. The family made their home in the Lexington and Elm Creek, Nebraska area for several years, before settling in Oxford. Dale worked for the Harlan County Road Maintenance Department as a road maintainer until his retirement. On February 20, 2006, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine. Dale resided at Christian Homes for a short period of time before making his home at Holdrege Memorial, where he resided until his passing. Dale will be remembered for his strong work ethic, and his love for Jesus. In 1961, Dale and Maxine were baptized and confirmed together at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, Nebraska. Dale also enjoyed reading, working puzzles, and riding his bicycle with his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife; Maxine, Dale was preceded in death by; step-son, Norman Dietz; step daughter-in-law, Fern Dietz; step son-in-law, Roy Johnson; and four grandsons: Steven, Rick, and Ed Dietz; and Sham Journey; granddaughter, Korina Journey; and all of his siblings. He leaves to celebrate his life; two step-sons: Larry Dietz and Richard Dietz and his wife, Alice all of Oxford; two step-daughters: Judy Journey of Kearney, Nebraska; and Janice Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; step daughter-in-law, Sharon Ludeke and her husband, Ron of Oxford; 17 step-grandchildren; a host of step great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
