Discus, a retired employee of Nick's Welding at Lewiston, died Monday afternoon at Tri State Convalescent Center of cancer. A resident of the center for three days, he was 72. A member of the Lewiston Eagles Lodge, he liked bird hunting and fishing. He was born Dec. 24, 1909, at Garfield to Frank and Delima Discus. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1929. He lived at Garfield until 1946, working as a machinist. He moved to Lewiston in 1946, when he began working for Nick's Welding. He married Edna F. Clark June 12, 1937, at Spokane, and she survives him at the home at 1218 17th Ave., Lewiston. Other survivors include two daughters, Ann Abel of Clarkston and Elaine Wieber of Auburn, Wash.; two sisters, Grace Elkins of Oakesdale, Wash., and Ellen Horne of Eugene, Ore.; one bother, Glen Discus of Palouse; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One brother, Paul Discus, and a sister, Ada Butler, preceded him in death. The funeral has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Mountain View Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph McGalliard to officiate. Burial will take place at an as yet undetermined time at Garfield Cemetery. The family suggest that memorials go to the American Cancer Society.
