Description	:	Floyd Arthur Rouse was born January 21, 1896, near Nelson, Nebraska, the son of Sylvestor and Mary Eva Lynch Rouse. He passed away suddenly February 21, 1973, at his home in Nelson at the age of 77. On May 9, 1918, Floyd was married to Fern Hendricks at Nelson. Read More	Floyd Arthur Rouse was born January 21, 1896, near Nelson, Nebraska, the son of Sylvestor and Mary Eva Lynch Rouse. He passed away suddenly February 21, 1973, at his home in Nelson at the age of 77. On May 9, 1918, Floyd was married to Fern Hendricks at Nelson. To this union were born four sons and a daughter: Raymond E. of Holmesville, Nebraska, James S. of Issaquah, Washington, Mary E. Kincanon of Bassett, Nebraska, Homer L. of Reston, Virginia and Richard F. of Fort Ord, California. Floyd lived most of his life on the farm five miles southwest of Nelson where his parents had homesteaded. It was here that Floyd was born as well as his five children. He was away one year in 1916 - 1917 to attend Broyles Business College in Omaha and returned to teach the Highland School the following year. Floyd and Fern operated the Rouse farm for many years, through good years and bad until they moved into Nelson in 1960. He has served since as the custodian of the City Parks. Floyd was baptized in the Blue River prior to 1917, and was a member of the Nelson Christian Church. He taught adult Sunday School class for over 23 years and served many years as an Elder. In 1971 the Christian Church made him Elder Emeritus. He was Past Worshipful Master of the Nelson Lodge, # 77, AF & AM, and Past Patron of Nelson Chapter # 27 OES. His community activities included many years of service on the school board, leadership in the Farmers Union and County Agricultural activities and being a neighbor to all he knew. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters: Estella Haidsiak, Violla Sargent, Otto Rouse, Roy Rouse, and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife, five children, eighteen grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 24, 1973 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Nelson. Rev. Victor Schwarz officiated. Burial and Masonic Rities were at the Nelson Cemetery. The Klawitter Funeral Home, Nelson, was in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were O.P. Porter, Fredo Bergman, Walster Williams, Elmer Williams, Raymond Statz and Howard Good. Honorary bearers were Earl Schufeldt, Ralph Mumma, Ralph Morehead, Mc Adamson and Ed Troudt. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 1, 1973
