After retiring from farming, he worked part-time for the maintenance department at Waters Implement and Buffs Travel Plaza for many years. He was a member of the Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Mount Pleasant. Survivors include his wife of Arbor Court; one daughter, Jean Roth of Mount Pleasant; three sons, Kenneth Burden of New London, Bill Burden of Conroe, Texas, and Gary Burden of Morning Sun; 27 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sons, one brother, one sister, and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation. A private family burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery prior to the memorial service. The memorial service for Mr. Burden will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Marc Hershberger officiating.
