Floyd Darrell Potter, son of Frank [Ruthven] Potter and Flossie [Orrilla] Sleep Potter, was born at Siam, Iowa October 11, 1921 and departed this life November 11, 1990 at the Municipal Hospital in Clarinda, Iowa at the age of 69 years and one month. He grew to maturity in the Siam area where he attended the public school and the Methodist Church. Darrell was married to Helen [Louise] McDonald from 1945 until her death in 1957. They had one son, Marvin R. [ay] Potter. On July 28, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Cabeen Sorenson at Maryville, Mo. and a son, Kevin Potter was born to them. Darrell was a farmer and enjoyed being associated with nature and the love of the land. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Helen McDonald Potter. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Potter of the home; his sons, Kevin Potter of Siam and Marvin R. [ay] Potter of Memphis, Tenn.; a step-son, Harold A. Sorensen of Pickering, Mo.; two brothers, Francis [Ray] Potter of New Market, Iowa and Glenn E. [dward] Potter of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren and one great grandson; other relatives and friends. He was a member of the United Methodist Church; the American Legion and the Taylor County Sheriffs Posse (reserves). Darrell was a kind and considerate husband, father and grandfather, brother and friend and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. During World War II he served his country in the U.S. Army from August 21, 1944 until June 22, 1946 in the European Theatre.
