Born April 24, 1927, in Morgan County, GA, she was a daughter of the late William George Odom and Mary Lee Moore Odom. Mrs. Dean was a 1945 graduate of Mt. Ulla High School. She was a retired nurse for Draymore Manufacturing. Mrs. Dean enjoyed sewing, camping and traveling with her children. She married Floyd Fleming Dean in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Dean was also preceded in death by a son, Floyd Edward “Eddie” Dean and sisters, Willie Morrison, Dorothy Nantz and Ruth Sherrill. She is survived by her daughters, Rachel Hucks and husband, Jimmy, of Newnan, GA, and Elaine Smith and husband, Jeryl, of China Grove; brother, George Odom and wife, Bea, of Marietta, GA; sisters, Linda Moser, of Mooresville, Brenda Sellers, of Kannapolis and Ruby Mayhew, of Loganville, GA; grandchildren, Duane Hucks, Gregory Hucks, April Holderfield and husband, Robby, David Dean, Shane Smith and wife, Jennifer, and Shana Woodside and husband, Justin; and great grandchildren, whom she was known as Dean-Dean, Bryce Morgan, Ayden Harrell, Grayson Hucks, Morgan Smith, Molly Smith, Peyton Smith, Preston Carnley, Tyler Woodside, Hunter Woodside, Madison Dean, Amber Holderfield and Megan Holderfield. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2014, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Mt. Ulla. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 PM on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 11020 NC Hwy 801, Mt.
