He was born south of Enterprise to Jesse A. and Gladys M.(Wood) Widler on Nov. 1, 1934, and was the youngest of three boys. He attended grade school at Pearl and Stony Point then entered Dickinson County Community High School in Chapman and graduated in 1952. Read More	Floyd I. Widler, 82, of Enterprise, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the Abilene Memorial Hospital. He was born south of Enterprise to Jesse A. and Gladys M.(Wood) Widler on Nov. 1, 1934, and was the youngest of three boys. He attended grade school at Pearl and Stony Point then entered Dickinson County Community High School in Chapman and graduated in 1952. After graduation he farmed for a few years and then entered the military in 1955. He completed his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and served as a cook. He was discharged in 1958 and returned to farming. In 1977 he entered the Army National Guard in Abilene and retired as a staff sergeant in 1994. In 1992 he married Mary Gfeller and continued farming with the help of his family. He had a great upbringing in a small community and as an adult enjoyed people, loved to visit and knew no strangers. He also loved to sing at church, collect old model tractors, and enjoyed reading and watching anything about the military. He was active in the American Legion in Chapman, and involved with the Men’s Breakfast at Enterprise. Survivors include his wife, Mary A. (Gfeller) Widler of the home; sons Jesse E. and Bryan Widler of Enterprise; daughter Brenda Cain (Kenny) of Abilene; and two grandchildren, Stephanie Widler and David Widler of Enterprise. He was preceded in death by two sons, George and William F. "Billy" Widler; his parents, Jesse and Gladys Widler; and two brothers, P. Dean and James Widler. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Enterprise United Methodist Church, 210 South St. Visitation will be today, Dec. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 206 W. Fifth in Chapman. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Program or Enterprise United Methodist Church in care of the Londeen Funeral Chapel, Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431.
