He grew to manhood in Adams County. On February 24, 1918 he was united in marriage to Lola L. Olds. In September, 1918 he was inducted into the U. S. Read More	Anita Tribune May 26, 1977 Page 8 Floyd Cole, 80, Laid To Rest Floyd McKinley Cole, was born at Carbon, October 12, 1896, the youngest son of Joel and Charlotte Palmer Cole. He grew to manhood in Adams County. On February 24, 1918 he was united in marriage to Lola L. Olds. In September, 1918 he was inducted into the U. S. Army and received his discharge the following December. To this union two daughters were born, Millree (Mrs. Harold Brawe) of Massena and Marjorie (Mrs. Everett Whitaker) of Council Bluffs. Floyd was baptized into the Christian faith in the Massena Methodist church, later transferring membership to Bridgewater. he was a long time member of the American Legion. Floyd and Lola spent their entire life farming, 29 of these years in the Massena Community. In June of 1973 they moved into Peaceful Manor in Bridgewater. He had been in failing health for the past year, spending several weeks in the Cass County Memorial Hospital. He entered Colonial Manor in Anita on May 10, where he passed away on May 15. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Fred, Smith, Frank, Arthur, Harry, and Perry, and two sisters, Bessie Sunderstrom and Minnie Johnston and one nephew, Russell Johnston, that was reared in the Cole home. Surviving him are his wife, Lola, two daughters, two sons-in-law, four grandsons, Larry Brawe of Massena, Maj. Gary Whitaker, Taegue, Korea, and Duane Whitaker of Tucson, Arizona, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ladye Powell of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, may 19, at the United Methodist Church in Bridgewater, with the Rev. Lyle Ball conducting the rites at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in the Massena Cemetery, with military rites.
