MAJOR COX Relatives and friends of Mrs. Major Cox of Paris, Mo, were shocked to learn of her sudden death last Thursday, June 25. Mrs. Cox, who was the former Miss Fostelle Jenkins of Callaeo, with the assistance of a neighbor was cleaning the rural Primitive Baptist Church, near Paris when she became suddenly faint, and died almost instantly. She is well known in Macon County, having been born and educated in Callao. After graduation she taught several rural schools in the county and then became Postmistress at Anabel. While in Anabel, she met and married Major Cox, who died in March, 1952. Mr. and Mrs. Cox had lived more than 15 years at Paris, Mo. Funeral services were held at the little rural church where Mrs. Cox died on Saturday afternoon, and burial was at the Clarence cemetery beside her husband. Those who, survive are a step-daughter, Mrs. Foster Rigsby, of Clarence, a brother, William, of California, an aunt, Mrs. Dolly Fisher of Macon; an uncle, Will Jenkins of Huntsville, cousin, Miss Alice Overby of Bevier. She was the niece of the late George Overby of Bevier, and spent a great deal of her girlhood visiting Mr. and Mrs. Overby and Alice.
