Description	:	Frances was born Sept. 28, 1910 in rural Washington County to Harry and Edna (Helm) Kleese. She married Eldin Bauer on Jan. 9, 1937 in Toulon, Il. She attended Franklin Center Township School, graduated from West Chester High School and received a teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College. She taught at two rural Washington County schools, Enterprise and Franklin Center, and at Sperry, IA. Later she was a homemaker and was active in the family trucking and corn shelling business and in operating the family's Kamp Kozy Motel and mobile home park in West Chester. Frances was a member of... Read More	Frances was born Sept. 28, 1910 in rural Washington County to Harry and Edna (Helm) Kleese. She married Eldin Bauer on Jan. 9, 1937 in Toulon, Il. She attended Franklin Center Township School, graduated from West Chester High School and received a teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College. She taught at two rural Washington County schools, Enterprise and Franklin Center, and at Sperry, IA. Later she was a homemaker and was active in the family trucking and corn shelling business and in operating the family's Kamp Kozy Motel and mobile home park in West Chester. Frances was a member of the West Chester United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was active in Untied Methodist Women and served on numerous committees. A lifelong resident of West Chester and Washington County, she was a member of Home Arts Club, Birthday Club, Pythian Sisters and local school volunteer groups. Frances served on the local election bard for many years. Frances enjoyed working with ceramics and other crafts, gardening and wildlife, writing poetry, pinochle and working daily crossword puzzles. She maintained an interest in public affairs and enjoyed discussing a broad range of topics from Hawkeye football prospects to foreign policy. She was devoted to her family and many friends, was proud of her heritage and cherished the Kleese family farmstead and the town of West Chester. Frances will be greatly missed but never forgotten by all who knew and loved her. Frances Bauer is survived by her husband, Eldin Bauer, of Washington and her children, Charles (Shirley) Bauer of Snelling, Calif.; Sandra (Sheldon) Kongable of Winfield; and Thomas (Sandy) Bauer of Iowa City; and nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frank Kleese; sisters Mabel Griffith and Edith Bauer; two grandchildren; and a cousin, Ralph Kleese. Age 95 years.
