In the January 1, 1925, Census for Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa, shows Anna's parents as Ji and Sarah Myers Faris. The death record for Frances Anna Carder at the Wapello County Court House gives her father's name as John Ferris. I have used this spelling as her maiden name in this memorial. Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," December 20, 1944: Mrs. Anna Carder, 80, of 509 East Main street, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Irene Bradshaw, at 5 a.m. today. A resident of Ottumwa for the past 25 years, she was born in Putnam county, Missouri, June 8, 1864. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Rinda Poncy and Mrs. Leona Bix, both of Ottumwa; Mrs. Edith Jackson, Moline, Ill., and Miss Maude Carder Mt. Pleasant, and two sons, Larry Carder, who lives in California, and James Carder, Ottumwa. Twenty-seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Carder, in September of 1943, as well as by two sons and one daughter. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of funeral arrangements. "CARDER SERVICES," From "Ottumwa Courier," December 21, 1944: Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Carder of 509 East Main street, who died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Irene Bradshaw, Wednesday morning, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson funeral chapel, in charge of the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
