Description	:	Frances Bernice Stucky, 87, died Jan. 20, 2014 at Oakview Terrace, Freeman, S.D. Bernice was born to Emil and Frances Preheim, March 1, 1926, in Freeman. She was baptized on Nov. 23, 1941 and remained an active member of the Salem Mennonite Church. Bernice graduated from Freeman Academy and received a normal teaching degree from Springfield, S.D. She participated in a summer voluntary service project in Rosthern Saskatchewan, Canada in 1947 and married Herman Stucky in 1948. Read More	Frances Bernice Stucky, 87, died Jan. 20, 2014 at Oakview Terrace, Freeman, S.D. Bernice was born to Emil and Frances Preheim, March 1, 1926, in Freeman. She was baptized on Nov. 23, 1941 and remained an active member of the Salem Mennonite Church. Bernice graduated from Freeman Academy and received a normal teaching degree from Springfield, S.D. She participated in a summer voluntary service project in Rosthern Saskatchewan, Canada in 1947 and married Herman Stucky in 1948. Between 1948 and 1965, Bernice taught in several country schools in the area. She also worked as a typesetter for the Freeman Courier, an assistant in the Freeman nursing home and as a hospice volunteer. Bernice had many hobbies and interests. She loved singing, gardening, plants, reading, sewing and writing poetry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Frances Preheim; and two brothers, Howard and Curtis. Bernice is survived by her husband, Herman; two children: Jackie (David) Stucky-Strom, Rapid City, S.D., and Janver (Karen) Stucky, Freeman; and two grandchildren: Colby Stucky, Aurora, Colo., and Doran Stucky, Princeton, N.J. Her funeral was held Friday, Jan. 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Mennonite Church, rural Freeman, with Pastor Robert Engbrecht officiating and Harriet Kaufman as organist. Special music was provided by Lyle Preheim, Don Waltner, Calvin Graber and LeRoy Epp. Freeman Courier 02/12/2014
