Christmas Day was a happy day at the home of Mrs. Frances C. Carroll, one mile north of Bacon Chapel, where a most remarkable family gathering was held. "Grandma" Carroll is 78 years old and is the mother of six children, all of whom were present at the reunion. With her were also all her grandchildren, 14 in number and all her great grandchildren, six in number. In the four generations of this branch of the Carroll family there have been but two deaths, that of Mrs. Carroll's husband, P. B. Carroll and the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Jackson of this city. DIED NEAR BACON CHAPEL Mrs. Frances C. Carroll passed away Monday night at her home near Bacon Chapel, aged 82 years, following a long illness. She was the widow of Pleasant Carroll, who died about thirty years ago and had lived many years on many the farm where she died. She is survived by six children and numerous grandchildren. She was a sister of Thos. Coard of this city. Funeral services for this good woman will be held at Bacon Chapel at 11 o'clock this morning conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. H. Werner. Carroll was born in Worcester county, Md., April 3rd, 1835 and departed this life at her home near Bacon Chapel, June 4, 1917 She came to Missouri with her parents, Mr and . Mrs. Wm. Coard, when but a mere babe. She gave her heart to God when a young girl and has ever lived a faithful earnest Christian life and was a charter member of Bacon Chapel church; was united in marriage to Pleasant P. Carroll, December 7, 1854, who passed away July 31, 1886. To this union was born six children, Mrs. Kate Jackson, of Shelbyville; Mrs. Nellie Gray, Mrs. Jennie Barr, James W., Charles S., and Henry P, Carroll of Bacon Chapel vicinity. She leaves an aged brother, Thomas Coard of Shelbina, and a sister, Mrs. Martha Moore of Duncan Chapel neighborhood. Besides these she leaves 16 grand-children and eight great-grand-children, all of whom were permitted tot minister to her in her last illness, with the exception of one grand-son, Thomas Jackson of Washington. Grandma's faith in God was very strong and in her last illness she left many testimonies of His presence with her. She was enabled to praise His name, though in great pain, and often whispered a prayer and repeated favorite hymns, manifesting a child-like faith and trust in Christ, admonishing her children all to be good and meet her beyond. When too weak to express herself aloud, we caught the whisper, "I love to tell the story of Jesus and His Love." Funeral services were conducted at Bacon Chapel, June 5, by the pastor, Rev. C. H.
