Mrs. Frances Pratt, pioneer Madison County woman and a resident of Battle Creek 65 years, passed away Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness. Groninger, and Charles Hansen. Mrs. Pratt, whose maiden name was Frances Bunch, was born in Florida June 14, 1847, and reached the age of 90 years, 4 months and 26 days. When she was about 12 years old her parents moved to Louisiana and later they became residents of Illinois. On June 4, 1866, she was married to George J. Pratt and in 1872 she came to Madison County, Nebraska. Her husband died in Battle Creek in 1911. It is said she was the last of the charter members of the Battle Creek Baptist Church, organized in the early '70s. Mrs. Pratt was the mother of eleven children, two of whom died in infancy. Surviving are six sons and three daughters: George Pratt, Grand, Oklahoma; Jesse, Butte, Montana; Jacob, Craigmont, Idaho; Arthur, Los Angeles, California; William, Lincoln; and Clarence, Battle Creek; Mrs. Elizabeth Malloy, Atkinson; Mrs. Bertha Berg, San Pedro, California; and Mrs. Emma Heath, Norfolk. One brother, Jesse Bunch, lives in Los Angeles. There are 32 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and a few great-great grandchildren.
