Burial was in the Battle Creek cemetery. William H. Pratt, a Madison County pioneer, passed away on February 22, 1950, at a Norfolk hospital, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 10 days. Mr. Pratt was born April 12, 1868, at Kankakee, Illinois, to Mr. and Mrs. George Pratt. In 1872 the family moved to Madison County, taking a homestead south of Battle Creek. He was married April 8, 1891, to Miss Blanche Palmer, and settled on a farm four miles southwest of Battle Creek. In the spring of 1906 the family moved to the John Crook farm near Meadow Grove, residing there until moving to Lincoln in March, 1910. After Mrs. Pratt's death in 1944, Mr. Pratt moved back to Madison County, spending his last days near Battle Creek. He is survived by two sons; Harlan of Washington, D. C., and Irven of Meadow Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Stauffer of Tilden and Mrs. Bertha Coleman of Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Heath and Mrs. Lizzie Malloy of Norfolk; four brothers, George of Westonville, California, Clarence of San Pedro, California, Jess of Chehalis, Washington, and Jacob of Lewiston, Idaho. There are eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, together with other relatives and a host of friends who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Berg of San Pedro, California, and a brother, Arthur, of Los Angeles, California.
