Description	:	Mrs. Frances Fedora Payne was born in New Britain, Connecticut, March 15, 1841, and was the daughter of Dan and Mary Clark. Her childhood was spent in her native state, but in 1858 she moved with the family to Cedar county, Iowa. After remaining there a few years the family moved to Boonsborough, about the year I860. Feb. 2, 1875, she was united in marriage to Franklin Holbrook, of Boone, Iowa. They moved onto a farm south of Boonsboro, where they resided until the fall of 1891, when they moved to Newell, Iowa. Mr. Holbrook died May 2, 1893 and... Read More	Mrs. Frances Fedora Payne was born in New Britain, Connecticut, March 15, 1841, and was the daughter of Dan and Mary Clark. Her childhood was spent in her native state, but in 1858 she moved with the family to Cedar county, Iowa. After remaining there a few years the family moved to Boonsborough, about the year I860. Feb. 2, 1875, she was united in marriage to Franklin Holbrook, of Boone, Iowa. They moved onto a farm south of Boonsboro, where they resided until the fall of 1891, when they moved to Newell, Iowa. Mr. Holbrook died May 2, 1893 and was buried in Newell. August 27, 1894, Mrs. Holbrook was married to Lloyd D. Payne of Boone, Iowa. They lived on Mr. Payne's farm east of Boone until November, 1912, when they moved to the city of Boone, Iowa, into the house which has since been donated to the Eleanor Moore Hospital for a nurse’s home, Mr. Payne having built another home in which they resided. She died early in the morning, April 28. Mrs. Payne was one of a family of nine children, six growing to manhood and womanhood, one brother, Elbert Clark of Des Moines, being the last of the family living. She is survived by her husband, Mr. L. D Payne, one brother, Mr. Clark, and twenty-seven nieces and nephews, besides many other relatives and a large concourse of friends.
