Funeral services were held Monday, September 29, at 2:30 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Alexander, pastor of the First Methodist church in charge. Russell and Mrs. Roswell Jordan sang two numbers "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages" Mrs. Russell Newcomm accompanied them. Casket bearers Milo Dailey III, C.H. Whitten, Jack Rogers, George Keeley, Wesley Davis and Roy Holliday were also Eastern Star members. Frances Gertrude, third child of Thomas and Elizabeth Blake was born October 26, 1864 in Warren, Illinois and departed this earthly life at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at 6:30 p.m. September 26, 1947 following an eight year illness.She came with her parents to live on a farm in Cherokee county, Iowa, in 1880. Here, in March of 1888, she was united in marriage to Thomas Howard Unger. In 1889 when Dr. Unger became a pioneer veterinary surgeon in our community, they located here. Mrs. Unger had been a resident of Coon Rapids for the past 48 years. Mrs. Unger was preceded in death by her husband in 1913; also by three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Marion Cook and Mrs. B. W. Trullinger, who both live in Coon Rapids, and by four grandchildren and one great grandchild. As a young girl she united with the First Baptist church in Warren, Ill. Later she attended and faithfully served in the Presbyterian church in Coon Rapids. Mrs. Unger was a charter member of the O. E. S. and a member of the past Worthy Matrons club and for many years had been a member of the Woman's club. She was a great lover of the outdoors and spent much of her time with her garden and flowers until stricken with illness.
