She was born March 23, 1915 in Ottumwa to G. Clay and Elvira Cundiff Chapman. She married Harold William Blanchard June 27, 1937 in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death April 10, 1996. She farmed with her husband for 50 years west of Ottumwa. Read More	— OTTUMWA ? Frances I. Blanchard, 91, of Sylvan Woods, formerly of 9043 163rd Ave., died June 29, 2006 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born March 23, 1915 in Ottumwa to G. Clay and Elvira Cundiff Chapman. She married Harold William Blanchard June 27, 1937 in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death April 10, 1996. She farmed with her husband for 50 years west of Ottumwa. She was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, she had been a 4-H leader, was instrumental in forming the Sunshine Maids 4-H Club, had been a 4-H County committeewoman, and had been a member of Holiday Ramblers. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Brandt of Ottumwa and Karan (James) Johnston of Indianapolis, IN; 3 grandchildren, Lisa (Dale) Schimmelpfennig and Norman (Roma) Brandt both of Ottumwa, Gregory (Julie) Brandt of Des Moines; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Chapman of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Howard Wyman Blanchard; two sisters, Leona Scully and Cleora Thorne; two brothers, Everett Chapman and G. Clay ?Sonny? Chapman. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Luers and Gary Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Willard St. United Methodist Church Youth Group or Ottumwa Public Library.
