The youngest of 11 children of Lewis and Annetta Amrein, she was born in Fallston, Maryland on July 14, 1923. Read More	Frances Amrein Smith, 86, of White Hall, Maryland passed away on March 1, 2010 at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. The youngest of 11 children of Lewis and Annetta Amrein, she was born in Fallston, Maryland on July 14, 1923. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Edward Smith, and 5 daughters and their husbands, Joan Garvin and husband, Ron of Bradford, Vermont, Susie Necker and husband, Joe of Columbia, South Carolina, Kathy Fowler and husband, Lee of White Hall, Maryland, Nancy Rose and husband, David of White Hall, Maryland and Debbie Reed and husband, Steve of Monkton, Maryland. Other survivors include ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Frances was a dedicated farm wife, supporting her husband by lovingly caring for her family and providing a warm and welcoming home. Together they enjoyed hosting family, friends, and community organizations at their farm for special gatherings and events. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills and took great pleasure in sharing her homemade rolls and buns with others. A patient teacher, she leaves a legacy of having passed on her cooking expertise to many. Frances was an encouraging mothers to her 5 daughters by being an enthusiastic presence in their community, spiritual, and school activities. She delighted in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and the Jarrettsville Lioness, past Worthy Matron of the Parkton Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and past Grand officer of the Maryland OES. Frances enjoyed hobbies of needlework, bowling, and playing Bingo and card games. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2 p.m., at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Madonna, Maryland. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Clear Meadow Farm Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 113, Monkton, Maryland 21111.
