She was born on June 12, 1918, in Earlton, Kan., to James and Julia (Gaughan) Moser. She married Lee Roy Ellis in l936 in Chanute, Kan.; they later divorced. She married Martin Louis (Louie) LaFontaine on Oct. 1, 1948, in Helena. She had worked for the state of Montana's Public Employees Retirement Systems as a data entry clerk. She is survived by five of her nine children, Jim (Bonnie) Ellis, Julia (Walter) Dixon and Doug LaFontaine of Helena, Dean (JoAnn) Ellis of Billings and Martin (Sue) LaFontaine of Belgrade; stepchildren, Bob (Carol) LaFontaine of Helena, Robert (Evelyn) Ellis of Chanute, Kan., Sharon Butler of Grapeland, Texas; one sister: Elizabeth Stanley of Lincoln, and sister-in-law, Mary Moser of Helena; 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, any many friends. Preceding her in death are her husband, Martin (Louie) LaFontaine; parents, James and Julia Moser; brothers, James F. and John P. Moser; daughters, Louise Hallberg, Janice Serati and Annette Riechel; and son, Jack Ellis. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. from St. Helena Cathedral. Interment will follow in the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials to the Big Sky Care Center Patients Activity Fund, 2475 Winne Ave., Helena, MT 59601. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hagler-Anderson Funeral Home.
