The condition of Mr. Schlickenmayer, who suffered serious chest injuries, yesterday afternoon was reported as "improving" by the attending physician who said Mr. Schlickenmayer had a good chance to recover. Mr. Dowdey, the other occupant of the car, was released from the hospital Saturday. Mrs. Schlickenmayer, who was thrown through the windshield when the car struck the oil transport head on , died about 1:15 Friday morning, about a half hour after she arrived at the Hawarden Hospital in the Rose ambulance. Mrs. Dowdey died at the hospital about 4:30 Friday afternoon. The accident occurred four and one half miles west of Hawarden about 12:15 Friday morning. All of the car's occupants, except Mr. Dowdey, were unconscious when the ambulance arrived. Mr. Schlickenmayer was driving the car. The driver of the Dan Dugan oil transport of Sioux Falls was not injured. Mrs. Dowdey, daughter of Frank and Lottie Van Buskirk, was born October 30, 1925, near Hawarden. In her girlhood she attended and finished her elementary schooling at Craig. On her birthday, October 30, 1941, she was married to Gerald J. Dowdey and since then lived in Hawarden. Two children were born, a son, Gerald James, 5, and a daughter, Gloria Jeane,17 months. When a child she was administered the rites of baptism in the Lutheran Church at Craig. Survivors are her husband and two small children; her parents; and two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Henry Timmer and Seward, Lester and Vernon Van Buskirk of Hawarden and Mrs. J. Adamson of Culver City, California. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Methodist church with Rev. Milton M. Schaper officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.
