Beyond the scope of this contributor to research more deeply, but any legitimate information would be appreciated to update this memorial with. ---------------- Wife of Xavier Maries, married Feb. 18, 1842, evidently in France. ---------------- Fairfield Ledger Wednesday Nov. 1, 1899 Pg. 3 GLENDALE Editors Ledger: - Mrs. Xavier Maries died Sunday night and was buried in the Ankrom (sic. a/k/a Brethren) cemetery Monday. She was eighty-three years old and came to this country from France in 1847. She fell down a cellarway five years ago and has since been so helpless she could not so much as turn herself in bed. Her daughter, Mrs. David Bush, has ministered to her every want like the care of a mother to a helpless child. A large concourse of friends and relatives accompanied the remains, with the bereaved husband and family, to the Cedar church, where Rev. J. F. Magill conducted a beautiful burial service and the remains werre committed to the grave. ---------------- Fairfield Tribune Wednesday November 1, 1899 Pg. 6 Col. 3 Glendale. Oct. 30 - Mrs. Maries died Sunday morning and was buried in the Ankrom (sic. Brethren) cemetery Monday. Mrs. Maries fell down a cellar-wayfive years ago,and has been so helpless that in all those years should could not turn in bed; but her daughter, Mrs. David Bush, has cared for her like a mother cares for her child. Mrs. Maries was eighty-three years of age, and came to this county (sic. country) from France in 1847. A large number of friends and relatives followed the remains, with the bereaved husband, three daughters and one son, to the Cedar church, where Rev. Dr. Magill conducted appropriate funeral services. ---------------- A granddaughter was Geraldine DeSpain (a/k/a Geraldine Josephine Maries DeSpain; Mrs. William Despain Jr )
