Description	:	daughter of Bert and Tillie (Alberts) Miller Frances Stubbe, age 84, of Aplington, Iowa, was born on July 29, 1927, the daughter of Bert and Tillie (Alberts) Miller on a farm east of Kesley, Iowa. She received her education from Ripley Township #4 country school near her home. She received her education from Ripley Township #4 country school near her home. Frances Miller was united in marriage to Theodore Stubbe on September 25, 1946, in the parsonage of the Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington. To this union three daughters and one son were born. They lived on a farm southwest of Aplington until 1956 when they moved to Aplington and Ted started working for the Farm Service Company. In 1979 they built their present home. Frances was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington, receiving a 50-year membership certificate in 2009. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible School director, youth leader, and was an officer of the Ladies APW group. She headed the bread-baking program for many years and she and Ted enjoyed activities with the church Mariners' group. In 1995, she was awarded a Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership. Frances was also very active in volunteer community work. She served as the Red Cross chairperson for many years as well as the head of Meals on Wheels. She and Ted worked at the AMVET bingo fundraisers on Saturday nights and Frances chaired the chili and oyster suppers. She was a tireless worker who gave her time and talents for the good of others. Frances enjoyed working in the yard, mowing lawn and growing and tending her flowers and plants. She helped Ted at Farm Service and with his Pioneer Seed Corn business. Her favorite times were family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. Frances died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Cornelia Jungling, Henrietta Mennen, Madeline Cordes, Carrie Bertram, Marion Cordes, and Bertilda Freese; and two brothers, Merle and Dick Miller. Frances is survived by her husband, Ted; three daughters, Peggy (Dale) Rogers of rural Janesville, Patty Uhlenhopp of Aplington, and Pamela (Kent) Gulick of rural Allison; a son, Paul Stubbe of Aplington; three grandsons, Christopher (Sarah) Maifield, Jonathan Maifield, and Levi Gulick; two granddaughters, Brooke Gulick and Mackenzie Uhlenhopp; a great-grandson, Brody Wangsness; two sisters, Mildred Ridder and Phyllis Aalderks; two brothers, John "Jack" (Joan) and Delbert (Delores) Miller, all of Aplington; and a sister-in-law, Hannah Miller of Parkersburg. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery both Aplington. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, at the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington, and one hour before services at the church.
