Description	:	Frances Shirley Johansen, 78, of Aurelia died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Hilltop Care Center in Cherokee, Iowa, following a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in rural Cherokee, with the Rev. Roy Stacey officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m., at Wharton-Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. Mrs. Johansen was born Jan. 29, 1921, on a farm near Cherokee, the daughter of Glen and Pearl (Stevenson) Leeds. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1938. She attended Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn., where she met Floyd R. Johansen, to whom she was united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1939. The couple farmed briefly near Edmunds, N.D. They moved to Cherokee County, where they farmed until retiring to Aurelia in 1975. He died Dec. 22, 1986. She was an active member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she served as organist. She also served Stonecroft Ministries as a Friendship Bible coffee guide and Bible study coordinator. She participated in Cherokee Christian Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her parents.
