Mrs. Bott was born to Frank and Vera Smith Stary in Monticello, Iowa, on Dec. 7, 1907. After the death of her father, she moved to Montana with her mother and sisters in 1922. She met and married J. Ed Bott on Nov. 26, 1924. To this union, three children were born. Mrs. Bott loved being a homemaker. She knit beautiful sweaters for her grandchildren. She could crochet, tat and embroidery. Her cooking, whether it was meals, baking bread, rolls or pies, always looked and tasted great. She loved to can her own fruit and vegetables. She rarely ever bought a can of vegetables or fruit. Pickles were one of her specialties be it dill, sweet dill, sweet pickles or million dollar pickles. She made delicious sweet pickles out of zucchini. Mrs. Bott raised a big garden out of rock with a little top soil. She had three or four apple trees and even tried a pie cherry tree from the Flathead area. Mrs. Bott read the Bible daily and could quote any part. She was a member of Mary May Rebekah Lodge, past president of the Rebekah Assembly and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Patriarchs Militant of Montana. Her family was always high on her priority list. Her survivors include her children, Edward R., and his wife, Beatrice, of Columbia Falls, William, and his wife, Dorothy, of Rosebud, and daughter Lillie Smith of Missoula; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- granddaughter; and one sister, Annetta Boyle of Billings. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years and one sister. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Memorials may be made to the Rosebud Community Chapel, Rosebud MT.
