Description	:	Francis Allen Kosters, 87, of New Hampton, formerly of Sioux Center, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center. Kosters was born in Sioux Center on Dec. 12, 1924, to John William and Johanna (Riemersma) Kosters. He lived his whole life in Sioux Center, graduating from Sioux Center High School in 1942 and attending Northwestern College in Orange City. Kosters was born in Sioux Center on Dec. 12, 1924, to John William and Johanna (Riemersma) Kosters. He lived his whole life in Sioux Center, graduating from Sioux Center High School in 1942 and attending Northwestern College in Orange City. He married his high school sweetheart, Edith Jean Meengs on Sept. 15, 1944. They began their married life in Sioux City, where he worked for Montgomery Ward and Sears Roebuck. They also lived and worked on his dad's farms near Ireton before moving to Sioux Center. For eight years he was a traveling salesman and supervisor for J.R. Watkins in the late 1940s into the early 1950s. He worked for Ron's Motor Company before he bought out Den Beste's Department Store in Sioux Center. The couple owned and operated Kosters Department Store, later named Kosters Floor and Wall Covering for 47 years. They also ran a small store in Ireton as well. They lived 66 years of their married life in Sioux Center. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, Softball, bowling, golf, tending his garden and flowers, traveling, playing cards and collecting coins. During his retirement he collected over 4,000 logo golf balls, which he displayed along with a lead pencil and logo ink pen collection in from their home. He sang in the Central Reformed Church Choir, male chorus, and was a bass soloist He was assistant boy scout leader, and served seven years on the New Homestead Retirement Center council They moved to New Hampton in May 2011, where he became a resident of Kensington Place Assisted Living. He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law. Donna Kosters; two brothers, Henry and his wife Priscilla Kosters and John and wife Cornelia Kosters; and two sisters, Sarah Kosters, and Eileen and husband Lyle Stange. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with Pastor Van Rathbun officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens in Sioux Center.
