Description	:	FRANK was born on the family farm north of Albion and attended District 1 school. After leaving school he worked full time with his brother Raymond farming the home place and the other place across the valley. Frank continued farming the home place after Raymond was married. Rose and Leona helped pick corn. They ran one wagon and Frank ran a wagon. Each wagon would be filled high against the bang boards each half day. Read More	FRANK was born on the family farm north of Albion and attended District 1 school. After leaving school he worked full time with his brother Raymond farming the home place and the other place across the valley. Frank continued farming the home place after Raymond was married. Rose and Leona helped pick corn. They ran one wagon and Frank ran a wagon. Each wagon would be filled high against the bang boards each half day. This would make four loads per day averaging about forty bushels per load. The wagons and all other farm machinery in those days were pulled by horses. Rose and Leona as well as Marie also helped with the haying. Three cuttings of alfalfa were field stacked in the summer and one cutting of prairie hay was stacked in late August. When Leo was about ten years old he started driving the hays tacker team. This team was hitched to a rope and when the horses were driven the hay arched up over the hays tacker and was dumped over the back side to make a high stack. Frank married Mary Cloughesy who taught school for one year at District 1. Just prior to their marriage on September 1, 1920 Mary had taught school at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. Her family lived two miles east of Albion. Frank's parents moved to town when he was married and Frank and Mary lived on the home place until they moved to town in 1951 when their oldest son Francis was married and moved with his wife Beata to this farm. OBITUARY: Saturday, January 24, 1976, Columbus Telegram, Columbus, Nebraska, Platte County Hoefer--Funeral services for Frank A. Hoefer, 79, of Albion, who died Friday in Boone County Hospital, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Michael Catholic Church, Albion. Rev. Henry Schorn will officiate, with burial in the parish cemetery. The body will lie in state all day Sunday, Sunday night and Monday morning in Levander Funeral Home, with rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday. He was born December 4, 1896, at Albion, son of Anton and Mary Abeln Hoefer. He was married September 1, 1920, to Mary Cloughesy of Albion and they farmed in the community. He was a member of St. Michael Church. Survivors are his widow; two sons, Francis Jr., of Albion and Vincent of Omaha; daughters Mary Carol Kitner of Vacaville, California, and Mildred Remmereid of Tilden; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Leo of Omaha; and three sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Marie) Anderson of Kansas City, Mo, Mrs. Leonard (Rose) Getzfrid of Albion and Mrs. Fred (Leona) Fitzgerald of Albion.
