Read More	The tombstone has a birth year of 1850, but the newspaper obituary and census have an earlier birth. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Francis Asbury Greatsinger was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, July 4, 1848 [stone: 1850) and died at his home near Armel, Colorado, May 25, 1911, age 62 years, 10 months, and 21 days. He was one of the early settlers of the eastern part of this state, coming here from Illinois in 1886. He engaged a number of years in the mercantile business, returning later to his farm, where his last years were spent in leisure. He was quite interested in active public life and was well and favorably known throughout the country. Scarcely a year ago, he was aware of the disease that proved fatal, and constant medical skill could not stay the inevitable result. He seemingly did not realize his critical condition, for he was always glad to be called upon and was ever hopeful of regaining his health. On Tuesday previous to his death, he became unconscious, and on Thursday, surrounded by his wife and a few neighbors, he passed quietly away. Funeral services were held at the home Friday morning, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Metcalf. Interment in Wray cemetery under auspices of Odd Fellow Lodge. Greatsinger, for many years a resident of the south divide near Lansing, died Thursday, May 25, after an illness covering several months. In fact, Mr. Greatsinger has been failing for the better part of two years, a general breaking down incident to a life full of hard work and full of years. He was one among the highly respected citizens of Yuma county, and his cherry words of friendly sociability will be missed very much. The funeral was held at the residence Friday morning, and the remains were laid to rest in Grand View cemetery under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. lodge iof Haigler of which ho was a member assisted by the I.O.O.F. and Rebecca Lodges of Wray.
