Buckel, 91, who died August 13 at a Charles City rest home. Pastor Marshall Hinds officiated, and burial was in Horton cemetery. Music was by Tom Conklin, vocalist, and Mrs. F. L. Hanscom, organist. Francis (Frank) Buckel was born September 2, 1884 in Clark county near Martinsville, Il., the son of Ahab and Nancy (nee Beech) Buckel and died August 13, 1976 at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 11 days, in the 11th Street Chatauqua Home. He came to Iowa in 1901. He was married to Grace Marks January 10, 1904. Five sons and three daughters were born to this union. She died June 9, 1919. November 20, 1920, he married to Cecile Elam at Martinsville, Il. They were divorced later. One son was born to them. When Frank first came to Iowa, he landed in Nashua, which had been his home town most of the time since. He worked as a hired hand farming until he was married, then farmed for himself, mostly in Bremer county. On retiring from farming in 1936, he traveled some and did painting and carpenter work. In 1942 he started working for the Rath Packing company in Waterloo and worked there for 15 years. When he retired from Raths, her returned to Nashua to live. His hobbies were gardening and making knick knacks. In June of 1969 he suffered a stroke and had to give up his home and garden. He lived at the Riverside Guest Home 13 months before going to live with his daughter, Gertrude, in May of 1971. He was a member of the Little Brown church and Modern Woodmen of America. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; three sons, one daughter, his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include three sons, William E. of Ionia, A. C. (Pete) of Nashua and John E. of Hutsonville, Il.; also two daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Oleson of Nashua and Mrs. Marie Zwanziger of Waverly; and 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
