Read More	The Daily Telegram (Columbus, Nebr.), June 15, 1946, p. 8, col. 3 Frank Gerharz, 81, Dies; Final Rites Monday Morning Frank Gerharz, 81, long-time Columbus resident, died at 6:50 a.m. today at his home here, 2404 Eighteenth street. He had been in failing health for the last several months but was never bedfast. He was born Feb. 19, 1865, in Lemont, Ill., the son of Joseph and Helen Gerharz, and came to Nebraska in 1886 and made his home in South Omaha for eight years. He came to Columbus in 1894 and had since resided here. He was in the men's furnishing business here for 25 years and retired in 1925. The clothing firm was known as Gerharz and Flynn. He was married on April 16, 1895, to Julia Strauley, and the ceremony took place in Columbus at St. Bonaventure church. Mr. and Mrs. Gerharz celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1945. Mr. Gerharz was a former third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a former grand knight. He was a member of St. Bonaventure church. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. John Torczon of Columbus; and one son, Leo Gerharz of Grand Island; and one grandchild, John Adam Torczon of Columbus. One daughter, Mary, and one son, Joseph, died in infancy. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure church with Rev. Albert Limacher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. The body will be taken from the Gahan funeral home to the family home at 1 p.m. Sunday to be until the hour of the service. Friends of the family will pray the rosary at the family home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. ___ June 17, 1946, p. 8, col. 3 Gerharz Services – Funeral services for Frank Gerharz, 81, who died Saturday at his home in Columbus, were held at 9 a.m. today at St. Bonaventure church with Rev. Arno Hartman officiating. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Jess Dougherty, Ed Kavanaugh, Judge C. L. Stone, Allan Hayes, Lawrence Torczon, and R. L. Dodendorf, sr. Honorary escort were the Columbus firemen. Honorary pallbearers were John Brock, Frank Kohlund, William Moersen, Jack Byrnes, Mark Burke, R. R. McGee, C. B. Fricke, Will Ragatz, and Dr. P. H. McGowan. Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Pete Ternes, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duesman, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Duesman, Mr. and Mrs. Alois Fuchs, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Olmer, Mr. and Mrs. William Olmer, Mrs. P. L. Kelly, all of Humphrey, Misses Helen and Inez Flynn and Miss Alice Shea of Omaha, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gerharz of Grand Island.
