Mrs. Gerharz was born Sept. 18, 1872, in Lockport, Ill. When a young girl she came to Omaha to reside. As Julia Strauley, she married Frank Gerharz in St. Bonaventure church on April 16, 1895, and they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary here in 1945. She had resided in Columbus since her marriage, until one year ago when she moved from the Mory’s Nursing Home to Grand Island to make her home with her son. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic church, an honorary member of St. Anne’s Society and a former member of the Catholic Daughters. She is survived by one son, Leo of Grand Island, and one grandson, John Adam Torczon of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mrs. John (Helen) Torczon and a son, Joseph and daughter, Mary who died in infancy. ___ September 17, 1956, p. 3, col. 3 CARD OF THANKS We take this means of extending to our many friends and neighbors our sincere thanks for their assistance and sympathy extended us during the illness and burial of our beloved mother and grandmother, the late Mrs. Julia Gerharz.
