He had been suffering with a cancer of the throat for some time and his death was not unexpected. Frank came to Spalding with his parents and family almost forty years ago. Formerly they lived on the Beaver valley, east of Headquarters. Frank continued to make his residence here until about seven years ago, when he moved to Elgin, and since that time he had been engaged in the tire business and was manager of a moving picture house. While here, he was engaged in the implement business for a number of years, and when the auto came into existence he was one of the pioneer dealers and all the early owners of cars had much to do in an automobile way with Mr. O'Hara. The last time he was in Spalding was during the last summer when he accompanied the remains of his father here from Omaha. Frank was a better person than he was given credit for, though his friends were legion. Many a time he has neglected his own business to give his time and labor to his friends, and he was never known to refuse his friends in distress. The funeral procession from Elgin arrived here about one o'clock Wednesday afternoon and, besides a number of cars from Elgin there were a lot of people here who went out to meet the procession and accompany it into town. Among his immediate relatives who were present at the funeral were his sister, Sister Mary Ligora of the Mercy order in Omaha; another sister, Mrs. O'Keefe, of Omaha, and his two daughters, Miss Nellie and Mrs. Lyle Moore, of Elgin. He was laid to rest among the friends of his youth, who knew him best, and besides making many friends, he made the world better for having lived in it. O'Hara passed away early Sunday evening at his home in Elgin, following an illness of more than six months, during which time he was a patient sufferer. Early last fall, Mr. O'Hara's health began to fail and it was necessary for him to undergo an operation, but his ailment was of such a nature that little could be done to stop the progress of the disease. Returning home from the hospital, he was confined to his home almost continuously until death came. Frank J. O'Hara was born in August 21, 1866, at LaValle, Wisc., and died on March 10, 1929, at Elgin, Nebraska. In 1881, he moved with his parents to Nebraska, where the family took up residence on the Beaver about twenty miles southwest of Elgin. Here he spent the days of his youth, assisting his parents in the operation of the ranch and becoming proficient as a "cowboy." In 1887, the family moved to the village of Spalding, and it was here that Mr. O'Hara spent most of his life. Engaging in business, he was successively a blacksmith, hardware merchant, automobile dealer and motion picture show operator. On January 7, 1921, he located in Elgin, where he operated the Community Theater up to the time of his last illness. Mr. O'Hara was united in marriage on April 26, 1897, to Anna Josephine Neis, who preceded him in death eleven years ago. To this union were born seven children, five of whom died in infancy. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ann Moore and Miss Nell O'Hara, both of whom reside in Elgin. Other surviving relatives are two sisters, Sister Mary Ligouri and Mrs. Anna O'Keefe, both of Omaha, and one grand-daughter, Marilyn Moore. Mr. O'Hara was a man of powerful physique, but within his great body was a kind heart and a friendly and sympathetic disposition. He enjoyed the associations of his fellow men and formed friendships easily, holding the respect and affection of all by his sincerity and fair dealing. He gave liberally of his time to the development and upbuilding of the communities in which he lived. As chairman of the road committee of the Elgin Commercial Club, he performed many valuable services. Funeral services were held from St. Boniface church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, following which the body was taken to Spalding for interment. __ col. 3 CARD OF THANKS To all those who assisted us so kindly during the illness and death of our beloved father and brother, we wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks.
