O'Hara, who was suddenly called to her reward at three o'clock, Thursday afternoon, March 15, 1917. Sad! Not because of the departure of this noble woman, - a long life of preparation to meet her Creator and the beautiful life she lived on earth, assures her friends that the end is only the beginning of a more beautiful life, unending. Sad, because the separation from her mate of more than a half century whose massive frame, bowed down with grief, tells the sad story of the cost to him of surrendering this soul – his life's companion – to the Master. They lived in and for each other. One enjoyed the things enjoyed by the other. No happiness or sorrow was felt alone, but equally shared as one. They lived as children. Their honeymoon began on their wedding day and ended when the final summons came. Mrs. O'Hara was troubled some with gastritis, though never considered dangerous. Mr. O'Hara left her in good spirits and in good health and went to the postoffice for the mail. On his return he stopped at the barn to help unload a load of hay, after which he went to the house and found his wife sitting in a chair, one arm resting upon the table and the other arm dropped at her side, apparently asleep. Thinking to awake her, Mr. O'Hara stepped over and gently touched her upon the shoulder. No response. Though the flesh was warm, the spirit had flown beyond the reach of human hands and the sound of human voice. Mrs. O'Hara was a life long member of the Catholic church and died in that faith. She was a devoted wife and a kind and loving mother. A friend to everybody and everybody was her friend. Bridget Agnes Byrne was born in County Cavin, Ireland, February 2, 1841, and died at her home in Spalding, Thursday, March 15, 1917, at the ripe old age of 76 years 1 month and 13 days, of heart failure. At the age of seven or eight years, deceased came with her parents to America and settled in Ohio. In 1859 they removed to Wisconsin, where in 1865 she was united in marriage to D. J. O'Hara at Cazenovia. This union was blessed with four children, two boys and two girls, all of whom are living to mourn her departure. Namely, Francis J., of Spalding; Mary E. (Sister M. Legoria,) of Omaha; Anna M. O'Keefe and John J.; of Spalding. In May, 1881, she came to Nebraska with her husband and settled on the Beaver, near Arden and removed to Spalding in October, 1887, where she remained until her death. Funeral services were held from St. Michaels church, Rev. Father Daly conducting the services. The remains were laid to rest with tender hands in Mount Calvary cemetery. ____ Card of Thanks We wish to thank our kind friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us in our sad bereavement. D. J.
