Description	:	Francis L. Jacobsen was born to Clyde F. Jacobsen and Marguerite Crouse Jacobsen on Oct. 8, 1933 at Fairmont. He passed away on March 11, 2005, at the York General Hospital in York, at the age of 71 years, five months and three days. He was one of five children in the family. Upon his honorable discharge, he resided in... Read More	Francis L. Jacobsen was born to Clyde F. Jacobsen and Marguerite Crouse Jacobsen on Oct. 8, 1933 at Fairmont. He passed away on March 11, 2005, at the York General Hospital in York, at the age of 71 years, five months and three days. He was one of five children in the family. He graduated from Fairmont high school in 1950, and then served in the United States Army from Oct. 22, 1953, until his discharge on Oct. 21, 1955 at Walters Air Force Base in Mineral Well, Texas. Upon his honorable discharge, he resided in Northville, S.D. fro 1955 until 1958 where he did farming and custom harvesting with George Lovegrove. In 1958, he returned to Fairmont to pursue farming. He began working at the Fairmont Feed Yards with his brother, Bill and continued working in the family business with his brothers. In 1986, he became manager of Circle Five Feed Yards of Fairmont and was acting as such at the time of his death. Francis served the community of Fairmont as mayor for 12 years. He also was a Pioneer Seed Corn Representative for 37 years. He was a member of the Fairmont Community Church for over 50 years and was an active member of the Fairmont American Legion Post No. 21 for 35 years. He also was a member of the I.O.O.F Oddfellows Lodge and belonged to many cattleman organizations. He was married to Beverly Rose Peterson of York on Nov. 27, 1955, and to them four children were born. Framcis' life revolved around his family and friends. He was a loving father and grandfather whose big smile and hearty laugh endeared him to all he knew. He enjoyed his "board" meetings at the Legion after work, selling beef, riding horses, telling stories and spending time with his grandkids and visiting with his friends and neighbors of all walks of life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Marguerite; brothers, Glenn and Floyd; father and mother-in-law, Matthew and Georgia Peterson and brother-in-law, Bud Peterson. He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Fairmont; daughter, Barbara Eakin and husband, Tony of Rossville, Kan.; son, James and wife Tracey of Fairmont, daughter, Francine Lomax and husband Bob of Hastings; son, John and wife Lynnette of Andover, Kan., and Gary White and wife Ellen of North Platte; brothers, John (Jack) and wife Pearl of Delia, Kan., and Bill and wife, Jean of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Karen Jacobsen of York and Pat Nutz of Fairmont; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his prize horse, Tammy ; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16 with Rev.Dr. Raponzil Drake officiating, assisted by Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied the church choir, who sang "Will the Circle be Unbroken" and "Tumbling Tumbleweeds. Francis' granddaughter, Calla Lomax sang "Hymn of Promise" and his grandson, Brett Eakin recited the poem, "He Only Takes the Best." Casket bearers were John Trusedale, Pete Caldren, Jerry Chavatel, Lonnie Taylor, Bobby Hoeft Jr. and Gary Roper. Honorary casket bearers were Howard Lefler, Frank Moyer, Jerry Galusha, Dick Smith, Duane Lott, Gene Nichols, David Carew and Gary Saltzman. Military graveside services by Fairnont American Legion Post No. 21 were held at the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
