Description	:	Marguerite Marie Jacobsen was born to Chester Crouse and Nora McWilliams Crouse on April 12, 1909, at Alma. She passed away on Sept. 10, 1994, at her home in Fairmont, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 10 days. She was the youngest of nine children and had four step-sisters. She passed away on Sept. 10, 1994, at her home in Fairmont, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 10 days. She was the youngest of nine children and had four step-sisters. Following the death of her father in 1912, Marguerite and her family moved to Kansas, where they could be closer to her mother's family. She attended country school there. The family then moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa, for a short period of time and then moved to Fairmont. On June 29, 1922, her mother married John Plock of Fairmont, and they lived on the farm southeast of town. She finished her grad school and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1928. Marguerite was very fond of her step-father, John Plock and was very close to her step-sisters, Maud, Mable, Tess and Esther Plock. She enjoyed living of the farm and being with her hew family and surrounding neighbors. Marguerite was married to Clyde Jacobsen of McCool Junction on June 6, 1928, and to them five children were born. They resided on several different farms in the McCool and Fairmont area, until 1946, when they purchased their own place southwest of Fairmont. They raised their family and continued to farm until retiring from the farm and moving to Fairmont in December of 1958. After moving to town, Clyde and Marguerite worked and helped manage Memorial Vault Company and the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Fairmont, until their retirement in 1987. She was a very caring and compassionate person, who went out of her way to help families during times of grief. She and her husband, Clyde, helped wit the visitations at the funeral home and supplied an empathetic ear for families in need. Until the closing of the chapel in Fairmont, they were always willing to help in any way and were appreciated by the community of Fairmont and by the owners of the funeral home. Her home was always open for friends and family. Coffee and rolls were always graciously offered. Her warm smile and quiet, kind nature made everyone feel welcome. She was a member of the Fairmont Community Church, Star Rebekah No. 8 L.E.A. Encampment and past Grand Matriarch at the time of her passing, having received the Decoration of Chivalry in 1986. Marguerite and her husband, Clyde, enjoyed many hours helping and being with her family. Her happiest moments were when all the family was together at family dinners and picnics. Countless hours were enjoyed by the two, at lodge activities, card playing with friends and attending dances together with friends and family. She and Clyde loved to dance and did so often throughout their almost 65 years of married life. As she became older and more restricted in activity, she spent her time at home writing letters and cards to lodge friends, neighbors and family. Her care and concern for family and friends was always a priority in her life. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Clyde; and son, Glenn; four sisters, Meadic Grace Lowther, Alice, who died in infancy and Stella Mable Watson; three brothers, Clarence, Floyd and Carter; three step-sisters, Mabel Dreier, Tess Cudaback and Esther McGuire. She is survived by four sons, Jack and wife Pearl, of Delia, Kan., Francis and wife, Beverly of Fairmont, Bill and wife Jean of Fairmont, Floyd and wife Karen of York; daughter-in-law Patricia (Jerry)Nutz of Fairmont; sister, Mollie Kiger of Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-sister, Maud Galusha of Ainsworth; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Communiyt church in Fairmont at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, with Rev. Tony Woodward officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Barb Eakin, who sang"You'll Never Walk Alone" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were Dale, John, Larry, James and Todd Jacobsen, Jack Slocum Jr., Randy Jensen and Wilbur Stum. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery with committal services by Star Rebekah Lodge No. 8. Nebraska Signal September 21, 1994 apge 19. ---------------------------- Lot owner: Albert B.
