He was born May 7, 1923, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Russell and Frances (Nason) Sharp. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 44th Infantry Division in Europe where he received the Purple Heart. Read More	****************************** Chanute Tribune(KS) - Thursday, May 23, 2002 BRANSON, MO - Francis Lee Sharp, 79, Branson, Missouri and formerly of Chanute, KS, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Skaggs Hospital in Branson, Missouri. He was born May 7, 1923, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Russell and Frances (Nason) Sharp. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 44th Infantry Division in Europe where he received the Purple Heart. He was also a recipient of several other decorations, including the Bronze Service Star. He worked at the Chanute Tribune and Ottawa Herald from 1949 - 1954. He was a supply officer at the Southeast Kansas Tuberculosis Hospital in Chanute, KS, for 20 years. He retired from the Kansas Division of Architectural Services in 1985. In 1990 he moved to Branson. He was a member of the VFW Post #1654 and DAV, both of Chanute, and the Trinity United Methodist Church, Tulsa, OK. Survivors include a daughter Elaine McKenzie, of Branson, MO; a sister Mary McCann, of Sapulpa, OK; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Friday, May 24, 2002, at Elmwood Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas, led by the Rev. Richard Conway. Military rites will be provided by the second Battalion AR BRT, Ft. Riley, KS. ****************************
