Born Dec. 2,1917, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Harvey and Elvie Snyder Beard. He was the husband of Virginia B. Blauvelt Beard, his wife of 51 years. Before retiring, he worked for several body shops in the county. Read More	Francis T. 'Pete' Beard 86, of Westminster Francis T. "Pete" Beard, 86, of Westminster, died Monday,Oct. 4, 2004, at the Westminster Nursing and Convalescent Center. Born Dec. 2,1917, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Harvey and Elvie Snyder Beard. He was the husband of Virginia B. Blauvelt Beard, his wife of 51 years. Before retiring, he worked for several body shops in the county. He served in the Army during World War II and fought in Algeria, French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy and the Northern France Rhineland. He received the Purple Heart Medal. He was a life member of VFW Post 467, a member of American Legion Carroll Post 31 and a 50-year member of the Westminster Moose Lodge 1381. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are stepson and stepdaughter-in-law Ronald L. and Judy Schultz of Westminster; sister Arlene "Pip" Beard Hoffman of Westminster; three grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; sistersin-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Kenneth S. and Lawrence R. Beard. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. John Morrill, pastor of St. John's (Leister's) Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
