Kahoun, 60, apartment 21, 1119 Pierce street, well known restaurant man, who retired in June, 1946, when he closed Franks's cafe at 607 Pierce street, died Monday evening at a hospital after a long illness. Mr. Kahoun operated cafes here for 25 years. In years of continuous operation he had qualified as one of the oldest restaurant operators in Sioux City. Many faithful customers followed him as he moved his restaurant from 411 Douglas street to 1119 Fourth street, 416 Pierce street, 515 Pierce street and the last location, known as Frank's cafe at 607 Pierce street. He had served as president of the Iowa Restaurant Owners association, and also headed the Sioux City Restaurant Owners organization. Mr. Kahoun was born February 18, 1887, at Windom, Minn. He was a member of the Elks lodge and Sioux City Restaurant Owners association, of which he had been president for three years. Survivors are the widow Ida, a son, Frank jr.; his father, John C.; a brother, Vincent, and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Lanegan, all of Sioux City. The body was taken to the Rutledge funeral home.
