Read More	OBITUARY - ALTOONA HERALD, AUGUST 4, 1966 Obituary of Frank Barton Frank Barton, son of Charles and Agnes (Scarrow) Barton, was born October 17, 1886 at Colo, Iowa and departed this life on Thursday, July 28, 1966 at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, having attained the age of 79 years, 9 months and 11 days. He came to Altoona at an early age and most of his life was spent in this community. On December 24, 1906, he was married to Verna Arrowood, who has been his faithful companion for nearly 60 years. To this union, three sons were born: Howard, Hugh and Harold. Mr. Barton was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; Mrs. Alta Henry and Mrs. Mabel Hannaford; one brother; Robert, in 1957; and two sons: Hugh in 1937 and Howard in 1954. Survivors include his wife, Verna; one son, Harold of Altoona; two daughters-in-law, Gladys Barton of Altoona and Gretchen Barton of Evanston, Illinois; two grandchildren; Mrs. James (Myrna) Shetterly of Hartford and Jerry Barton of Altoona; and two great-grandchildren; Lori and Timmy Shetterly of Hartford. Frank was a faithful member of the Altoona Methodist church, serving the church as a member of the board of trustees for many years. Active in Masonic affairs, he was a Past-Master of King David Lodge, A.F. & A.M., in Altoona, having become a member nearly 57 years ago, in October, 1909. He was an ardent supporter of worthwhile community projects and served the community as a member of the town council and of the board of education. "For I am sure that neither death, nor life,... will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39. Funeral services were held at the Altoona Methodist church on Sunday afternoon, July 31. Interment was in the Altoona Cemetery. p.1
