Frank is the youngest son and third child of this family. To the public school system of his native county he is indebted for the educational privilages which he enjoyed and which prepared him for life's practical duties. He remained with his parents until twenty one years of age, assisting his father on the home farm, and then went upon the lakes, but after two weeks' experience as a sailor he returned and operated his father's farm for five years. He then turned his attention to the carpenter's trade, which business he followed continuously until 1893, when he again resumed agricultural pursuits, locating on the farm on which he now resides, on section 21, Hudson township. He is a young man of resolute purpose, of strong character, and in his business affairs is capable, gaining a good financial return from his labors. On the 9th of September, 1902, Mr. Walker was united in marriage to Miss Ella Hamilton, of Miller, Buffalo county, Nebraska. She was born in Rolling Prairie, but when three years of age was taken by her parents to Nebraska, her father being one of the pioneer settlers of Buffalo county, and it was there that Mrs. Walker was reared and educated. Their union has been blessed with one daughter, Alameda. Their pleasant home is located on a farm of eighty acres, to which Mr. Walker gives his time and energies so that it is now under a high state of cultivation. In politics he is a Democrat, and is now serving as assessor of his township, being elected in a strong Republican district, the opposition party outnumbering the Democrats two to one. This fact indicates his personal popularity and the confindence reposed in him by his fellow citizens. Fraternally he is connected with the Masonic Order at New Carlisle, Terre Coupee Lodge No. 204, and also belongs to the tent of the Knights of the Maccabees in the same place. From "New Carlisle; The Story of Our Town 1835-1955" Frank Walker, the oldest man to be elected to the town council was 84 years of age when he took office. He served the 5th ward with honor and distinction. OBITUARY FRANK WALKER Frank Walker, 92, of 115 College street, New Carlisle, died at 10:30 yesterday morning at the Fairview hospital following a two-day illness. He was born May 16, 1866 in La Porte county and had lived in the New Carlisle vicinity all his life. He was married Sept. 9, 1902 in Miller, Neb., to Ella Hamilton who survives. Mr. Walker was a retired farmer and a member of the Terre Coupe lodge No. 204 F. and A.M., New Carlisle, for the past 63 years. Surviving in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Almeda VanArman, La Porte; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the H. C. Amen and Son Funeral home in New Carlisle with the Rev. Jack Price officiating. Burial will be in the New Carlisle cemetery. Friends may call at the Amen chapel from today and until time of services. The Terre Coupe lodge will conduct graveside services.
