Riggs, 69, Douds carpenter, died of a heart attack Thursday night at Lawrence, Mich., where he had gone several days earlier to attend the funeral of his brother, Dan. Mr. Riggs had not been ill. Riggs, 69, Douds carpenter, died of a heart attack Thursday night at Lawrence, Mich., where he had gone several days earlier to attend the funeral of his brother, Dan. Mr. Riggs had not been ill. He and his wife had remained for a visit for several days after the funeral Sunday and had planned to return to Douds Friday. He had lived in the Douds community since his marriage December 25, 1907, to Bertha Greenfield. After a period of farming he had been a carpenter here for 25 years. He had joined the Methodist church at Mt. Union in young manhood. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Max Caves and Mrs. Donald Parsons of Douds; two sisters, Mrs. Letta Shaffnit of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. J.B. Gabeline of Burlington; a brother, John, of Fairfield, and seven grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Eveleen Davis, died in 1947. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Zion Lutheran church near Douds, in charge of the Rev. Robert G. Farr, Douds Methodist minister. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran cemetery.
