Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 10 at Fleming United Methodist Church with Pastor Al Strauss officiating. Burial will follow at the Fleming Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Tennant Funeral Home in Haxtun. Mr. McDaniel was born October 16, 1900 at the family farm near Tangier, Ind. Following completion of high school, his family moved to Colorado in 1919, eventually settling on a farm in the New Haven area. While in the New Haven area, Mr. McDaniel, in addition to farm work, occasionally worked as a carpenter, helping with the construction of the Lone Star School, the Fleming Methodist Church, and reconstruction of the New Haven gymnasium. He drove a school bus for the New Haven School, played violin in a small band and oversaw roller skating activities at the New Haven School gymnasium. He, his wife Doris, and tod dler Deryl moved to a farm in the Fleming area the spring of 1934, where he remained until last year. He served many years on the board of Trustees of the Fleming Co-op Elevator. He was a member of the Fleming United Methodist Church where he served many years on the church council, as a church trustee, and helped in the construction of the present parsonage. He anxiously awaited the introduction of new car models every year and visited most of the showrooms when the new models come out. Not only did he look, but he usually bought a new car every second or third year. He also enjoyed playing checkers, especially with his father-in-law, whiling away many a cold winter after noon. He is survived by his wife Doris (Goff) McDaniel, of Fleming, whom he married August 19, 1929; half-brother Lee McDaniel, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; sons Deryl McDaniel and wife Janet, of Greensburg, Pa., Keith McDaniel and wife Donna, of Fort Collins, Richard Mct and wife Gay, of Haxtun, and Lowell McDaniel. and friend Marilyn Geiger, of Littleton; grandson Brian McDaniel, of Bowling Green, Ky., Michael McDaniel, of Lancaster, N.Y., Gregory McDaniel, of Fishers, md,, Kevin McDaniel, of Fleming, Kent McDaniel, of Greeley, Justin McDaniel, of Sun City Ariz., Scott McDaniel, of Everett, Wash., Randy McDaniel, of Castle Rock, and Dale McDaniel, of Aurora; granddaughter Amy McDaniel, of Miami Lakes, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; and sis ter-in-law Mary Goff of Fleming. He was preceded in death by his father, Nereus LertUn McDaniel; mother Ethel Amanda (Mans) McDaniel; brothers Ralph and Ross McDaniel; sister Helen Leone McDaniel; and daughter-in-law Carol (Schmid) McDaniel.
