Description	:	Frank Emil Golde was born at Oberhammersdorf, Saxony (Sachen), Germany on 6 March 1891, the son of Frank and Clara (Hoesel) Golde. He and his parents arrived at Ellis Island on 17 March 1892 on board the "Spree". The Ellis Island facility was only three months old when the Golde family passed through its door. His parents settled in the Rosebud area near New Salem and Frank lived in this area the rest of his life. Read More	Frank Emil Golde was born at Oberhammersdorf, Saxony (Sachen), Germany on 6 March 1891, the son of Frank and Clara (Hoesel) Golde. He and his parents arrived at Ellis Island on 17 March 1892 on board the "Spree". The Ellis Island facility was only three months old when the Golde family passed through its door. His parents settled in the Rosebud area near New Salem and Frank lived in this area the rest of his life. Frank was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Bremen, east of Rosebud on 30 October 1904. He served as elder of the church and remained a member until the Church closed at which time he joined the Zion Lutheran Church at New Salem. When Frank was 16 his parents built a new house and Frank was the carpenter's assistant. Frank later put the carpenter skills he learned to good use when he built all the buildings on his own homestead. He lived on that farm the rest of his life. Frank married Josephiene Schulz on 23 December 1914 at Hannover, North Dakota. They raised a family of seven children: Leola, Art, Lloyd, Clarence, Arnold, Laverne and Louise. They had 16 grandchildren. Three of Frank and Josie four sons, Lloyd, Clarence and Arnold served during World War II. Frank was a quiet and industrious citizen who was interested in his community. He was member of the Mars District No. 24 school board and served for several years as its president and director. During World War II Frank served on the Victory Garden Committee for his district. Frank passed away at age 60 in Minneapolis on 7 July 1951 of a serious infection at the University Hospital.
