Description	:	Frank, or F.G. as he went by, was the son of Eri Beaman and Rosanna Wilder. He came with his family to NH at an early age. He learned the bookbinding business from his father. Read More	Frank, or F.G. as he went by, was the son of Eri Beaman and Rosanna Wilder. He came with his family to NH at an early age. He learned the bookbinding business from his father. He married Deborah Whipple daughter of Dr. Alonzo Whipple of Wentworth NH June 28 1869 in Rumney NH. She was the niece of Col. Thomas J. Whipple of Laconia, NH. Frank served in the Civil War being one of the few taken off the Florida Keys who survived what had been thought be a terminal case of smallpox. After the war his wife joined him in Brooklyn NY where he furthered his studies and where two of their sons Charles and Edwin were born, returning to Laconia, NH in 1879 to work with his father in the family paper box and bookbinding company. The young family lived with the parents in the family home on High Street, now Beaman Street. Upon his father's death in 1890, the company was split between F. G. and his brother Willard. While in NY, FG had learned the watch and fine jewelry repair business which he continued to pursue as a side business. In 1894 FG built a new factory for his paper box business on Union Avenue in Laconia at which time the bookbinding business closed and his brother Willard moved to Massachusetts. By 1905 the paper box business was downsized and he opened an automobile garage and grocery store at the site of his factory. He closed the box factory in 1912 when he retired. His wife was ill at the time and she died the following year. F.G. continued with his clock and jewelry repair through 1931 when his health was failing and he moved to Melrose Mass to live with his son Edwin. FG died at age 91 of a heart attack at the home of his son Edwin with whom he had lived for his last seven years. F.G. and Deborah had three sons, Charles, Edwin "Frank" and Thomas Whipple Beaman. He was survived by his three sons, his brother Willard of Everett Mass, five grandchildren (one of whom was my grandmother) and eight greatgrandchildren. His funeral was held in Laconia, NH and he was buried in his father's lot in Union Cemetery. FG is remembered in the family as being a genial, fun-loving, and hardworking man who enjoyed time with his family entertaining his grandchildren and tinkering with all things mechanical. Obit: Frank G. Beaman 91, a Civil War veteran and fromer Laconia resident has died. Funeral services at Wilkinson Funeral home with burial to follow at Union Cemetery. Mr. Beaman died Sun morning at the home of his son Dr. Edwin Beaman in Melrose Mass where he had made his home for the past seven years. He was born in Boston Feb 6, 1847 and enlisted in the Civil War in Manchester. He was one of the very few who survived the small pox epidemic during the war and was taken off one of the Florida Keys where had been with other victims, secluded to die. He succeeded his father Erie Beaman in the paper box and book binding business in Laconia retiring from business in 1912. He is survived by three sons, Charles L. of Ashland, Thomas W. of Reading Mass and Edwin F. of Melrose Mass and by a brother Willard of Everett Mass; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters. Son Edwin "Frank" died 1956 Melrose Mass and grave has not been located.
