FRANK KRONLAGE ANSWERS SUMMONS PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 2 O'CLOCK Death was due to an Attack of Bronchitis Followed by Apoplexy. Death Claimed Mr. Frank Kronlage, one of the pioneer residents of this place, at his home on West DeWitt Street, last Friday afternoon at 2 O'Clock, following an illness of short duration, which was due to an attack of Bronchitis, and a stroke of apoplexy. Deceased was born at Harpendorf, Oldenburg, Germany, on December 6th, 1842, and was nearly 81 years of age when death claimed him. His youthful days were spent in his native village, where he received his education. After completing his school days, he followed the pursuits of a sailor, for a period of 20 years. In the year 1865, deceased was united in marriage to Miss Lena Schnieders, in his native home and after being married a year, his wife passed away. In the year 1868 he remarried, and his bride was Miss Josephine Neuhaus, who also preceded him to the grave in the year 1871. In the year 1874, he again united in marriage to Mary Agnes Schlarmann at Steinfelt, Oldenburg, Germany, the Rev. Goecking officiating. In the year 1890, the month of March Mr. and Mrs. Kronlage emigrated to America, settling on a farm west of Dyersville, where they lived continuously, until about a year ago, when Mr. Kronlage retired and moved to this city. Death claimed his third bride on February 27, 1894, and the deceased is survived by the following children: Lizzie, wife of Mrs. Ferd. Thole, Joseph A. and Miss Anna Kronlage, all of this city. Two sons Bernard and Henry preceded him to the grave. Deceased is also survived by sixteen grandchildren. The funeral took place Monday Morning from his late home to St.Francis church where requiem mass was sang for the repose of his soul by Rev. Father Iekel after which his earthly remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife in St. Francis cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. Julius Weber, Henry Heiring, John Arens, Henry Althaus, John Hildebrand, and Albert Becker. The Death of Mr. Kronlage removes from our midst one of the well known and most highly respected residents of this city and vicinity. Deceased was a man of congenial disposition a devoted husband and a father and good kind neighbor. He was honest and upright in all his business dealings with his fellowman, which merited for him countless friends,who held him in highest regard. He was devoted to his family, always looking after their welfare, and his many acts of kindness to neighbors and friends will never be forgotten. He was a devout member of the Catholic Church. and when death claimed him, he was well prepared with its last rites, and to receive the reward he so richly deserved.Heartfelt sympathy is extended to those left to mourn his loss Contributor: Michelle
